IoF Team Favorites: Summer Scholar Spotlight

IoF Team Favorites: Summer Scholar Spotlight

June 13, 2017 Blog

Academia exposes us to so many questions, methodologies, theories, approaches, and topics that sometimes even great work gets lost in the fray. You never know what might enliven your own work, and summer is a great time to explore scholarship outside your area or that is otherwise new to you. So for this edition of IoF Team Favorites, we decided to highlight some of our favorite scholars, people who are doing great work worth engaging with. Here are some of the scholars, academics, public figures, and all-around cool people who should be on your radar.

Cathy (President + Lead Editor): “I am endlessly inspired by Juana María Rodríguez. Her scholarly and pedagogical work are brilliant, and she is one of the most supportive and creative people I’ve ever met.”

Alex (Communications Director): “I really love Alison Kafer’s work. She brings together feminist and queer scholarship with disability studies in such clear, lucid and powerful ways.”

Kate (Grad School Rockstars Coach):Ruth Wilson Gilmore’s scholarship deserves more attention! Some of her arguments about incarceration have been lost in the buzz around The New Jim Crow.”

Sarah (Senior Editor):Keeeanga-Yamahtta Taylor is getting some love for her work recently, and deserves more!”

Michelle (Junior Editor): “I second Juana María Rodríguez—she never ceases to inspire.”
