Marieke Krijnen is a copyeditor at Ideas on Fire, where she helps scholars across the social sciences and humanities express their ideas in clear, consistent and precise terms.
Specializing in critical geography, urban studies, political science/economy, and Middle Eastern studies, she is the former journal editor of ACME: An International Journal for Critical Geographies. She speaks Dutch, Arabic, German, Spanish, English, and French.
Marieke is an advanced professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and a member of ACES: The Society for Editing and Society for English-Language Professional in the Netherlands.
She earned her PhD in political science from Ghent University, Belgium, and her MA in Middle East studies from the American University of Beirut.
When she is not editing, Marieke enjoys taking long train trips, learning the language of the country she is currently living in with her academic husband (Poland), and occasionally playing the violin.
