Ursula Arends
CopyeditorUrsula Arends (she/her) is a copyeditor at Ideas on Fire, where she uses her interdisciplinary background to help scholars produce manuscripts that shine.
As a lifelong social justice activist, she engages each manuscript with respect as she accompanies the author on a journey toward a just and equitable world.
Ursula has over a decade of experience editing scholarly manuscripts. She runs On Point Language Solutions, where she edits journal articles, dissertations/theses, books, and research reports and facilitates writing workshops for postgraduate students from across the African continent.
She is a member of the Southern African Freelancers’ Association and the Professional Editors’ Guild of South Africa.
Ursula earned her MA in development studies and BA in women’s and gender studies at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa.
When taking a break from editing, Ursula enjoys puttering around her garden, cooking up a storm, dancing to Earth, Wind and Fire, and walking her dog on Cape Town’s beautiful beaches.
