Ideas on Fire Guide to the American Sociological Association conference

August 9–13, 2024 | Montreal, Canada

Welcome to the Ideas on Fire guide for the 2024 American Sociological Association conference!

We’ve curated a bunch of resources to help you get the most out of your conference experience.

This year’s theme is Intersectional Solidarities: Building Communities of Hop, Justice, and Joy, and the event “emphasizes sociology as a form of liberatory praxis: an effort to not only understand structural inequities, but to intervene in socio-political struggles….The 2024 program theme focuses on how we can use our understanding of intersectional inequalities and solidarities to help build a better world.”

We are jazzed to celebrate so many Ideas on Fire authors presenting at the conference. You can peruse their recent work below.

If you can’t attend in person, check out our tips on conference participation when you can’t attend, and join the conversations at the conference hashtags.

You can also follow us on Instagram, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads, where we’ll be posting resources throughout the conference.
