Candida Hadley (she/her) is a developmental editor and copyeditor with Ideas on Fire, where she helps interdisciplinary academics build well-developed, politically relevant arguments and express them clearly and passionately.

Candida runs her own freelance editing business where she provides developmental editing, copyediting, writing, and research assistance for scholarly and trade nonfiction. She is also a member of Editors Canada. She firmly believes that books play an essential role in educating people about social issues and inspiring them to change the world.

Candida is a former acquisitions and development editor at Fernwood Publishing, an independent academic/social justice publisher. Before becoming an editor, she was a qualitative researcher in the university sector.

Candida earned MAs in religious studies and globalization studies from McMaster University, where she explored the use of colonial, imperial, and racist discourse in Western scientific storytelling. Her BAs are in religious studies and anthropology. She has also taken courses in Ryerson University’s Publishing Program.

In her spare time she loves to read, bake, kickbox, and spend time with her family.
