Laura Poole (she/her) is a proofreader at Ideas on Fire, where she helps interdisciplinary humanities scholars clarify their claims, adhere to publisher style guides, get their citations in order, and polish their prose.
Laura has been a professional copyeditor for over 20 years. She Archer Editorial, working directly for scholarly presses.
She is a member of the ACES Society for Editing and an advanced professional member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP). She is a regular conference and workshop presenter for SfEP, ACES, and Editors Canada and conducts private, customized training for publishers and freelancers.
Laura earned her BA in English and women’s studies from Duke University. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and modern quilting.
