Ideas on Fire Guide to the 2023 University Press Week

by | Nov 13, 2023

University Press Week 2023 is here all week! Every year since 2012, the Association of University Presses has hosted this week-long celebration. We’re delighted to join them in recognizing their crucial support of scholarship, voices, and conversations that traditional publishers often overlook.

This year’s theme is Speak UP. University presses will be holding events virtually and in-person connected to that theme. A calendar of events, themed reading lists, and more resources are available on the University Press Week 2023 website.

You can follow the conversations on social media using the hashtags #SpeakUP and #UPWeek. We also highly recommend following #ReadUP all year to keep up with new releases and other updates from university presses.

At Ideas on Fire, our goal is to help interdisciplinary scholars change the world. We are incredibly proud of the work #IoFAuthors have published with university presses over the years. As scholars and activists on the progressive cutting edge of the humanities, arts, and social sciences, they are indeed speaking up.

You can check out upcoming and new releases by IoF authors. The If you want to support university presses, groundbreaking authors, interdisciplinary editors like IoF, and independent bookshops all at the same time, check out our store on Bookshop.org.

University Press Week is a fun, inviting way to bring attention to these presses and the authors they support. We hope you’ll join us in amplifying their work. Follow and share the UPWeek blogattend a virtual reading, or #SpeakUP and share your favorite university press titles!
